The Chinese government fail to acknowledge this event happening. It is forbidden to talk to about it in public, and citizens have been imprisoned for doing so. It has been erased from Chinese internet searches, and a generation of Chinese people have grown up not knowing the events happened. This is before photography entered the digital age. My weapon of choice is this Nikon FA SLR camera which uses rolls of 35mm film. Each roll can capture 24 exposures that will need processing and printing in a darkroom. The fate of The Unknown Protestor has never been revealed. A lot of protestors sought political asylum in the U.S.A. and this is thought to be one possibility. Following May 35th massacre, many protestors were executed on national television. It is thought that if The Unknown Peotestor had been captured, the authorities would have made an exceptional example of him, to demonstrate what will happen to those who make a stand against the state. May 27th A group of fifteen art students were commisioned to build the Goddess of Democracy. Using styrofoam and plaster of paris, components were made off site. The idea of the statue was for it to draw attention to the Pro-Democracy demonstrations by attracting the western media who were in China for the state visit by Russian President Mikhail Gorbachov. May 29th The components are ferried to the site via tricycle and the Goddess of Democracy statue was assembled. Named after the politician who authorised Russia's invasion of Finland in 1939. The Tankman photograph by Stuart Franklin is one the best known photographs in the history of solidarity movements. It's depiction of a lone man halting a column of tanks in the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 3-4th [[(May 34-35th )]] 1989, is seen as a David and Goliath of the 20th Century. The events of June 4th (May 35th) 1989 are portrayed in the fictional television series "Chimerica" where a character tells the photographer "you took the photo, but you never understood it" indicating there is a lot more to the photograph than initially meets the eye. Tankman 64 is a re-imagining of this story. Tankman 64 travels back to that time, offering the player the opportunity to play either as the photographer, the unknown protestor, or the tank driver.
